"when irritation arises and you say to yourself, "anger" then you go, "oh yes, anger, alright." of itself it will begin to dissipate... it's like one of those big angry demons, if you recognise, "oh you're just one pigment of my imagination," it kinds of evaporate."

i came to this ashram, located an hour's drive away from bangkok, for a four-day retreat by ven. teachings on the three yanas were given and two documentaries - "tibet: cry of the snow lion" and "cave in the snow" - were screened. in the morning, qigong and yoga classes were conducted. i joined the outdoor qigong class which included many stretching and breathing exercises. one particularly tough breathing exercise goes like this: breathe in the air from the dan tian (lower abdomen) down, and back up through the spine to the top of the head, then coming down again to the mouth; hold it for a while, then breathe it out down back to the dan tian. if you can manage this, please enlighten me. the move i like most was the catwalk where we pace up and down, imitating the steps of a cat. meow.
